Pool at the Bays
Club
The Bays Club offers the facility of two
Pool tables and two choices.
1. As a Bays
Club Member you can play on the tables in a
casual way whenever they are vacant, or you
can book your turn on the chalk board.
2. You can
join a group of members who prefer to play
in a more structured way and have formed a
‘Pool Section’ within the Bays Club with its
own club night.
About the ‘POOL SECTION’
Eligibility
The ‘Pool
Club’ as it is commonly known is a section
within the Bays Club and all club members
are eligible to participate. In
practice there is a core of regulars who
regard Pool as their chosen (or one of their
chosen) activities within the club and
officers are elected by the players to run
the section.
New members are welcome, so read what it is
all about and feel free to come along to a
club night for a trial game or simply to
have a look.

Club Night
Club Night is Wednesday and the ‘Pool Club’
has exclusive use of both tables. The
programme starts at 7 pm sharp and is
administered by elected officers or others
nominated to do so.

Player Skills
Some ‘Pool Club’ members are very good
players, some are up and coming and others
are novices or learners.
Our aim is to enjoy each other’s company and
to play pool in a friendly and fun
environment. We have a mixture of ladies and
men and learners are encouraged and
nurtured.
On the Night
The names of those in attendance are drawn
in random pairs and a round robin ‘pairs
competition’ is played throughout the
evening.
There are no prizes for winning but your
individual scores are recorded during the
year.
Rules of Play
While based on the generally accepted Rules
of Play our club rules are slightly enhanced
to encourage fairness and to protect and
encourage players of all skills.
Playing to win at all costs is not a
feature. Paramount importance is given to
courtesy, fair play and regard for those of
lesser skill.
Competitions
A number of competitions are run amongst
Pool Club members during the course of the
year. These feature:
-
Drawn Pairs
-
Open Pairs
-
Ladies Singles
-
Men’s Singles
-
Open Singles
Pool Club
competitions have referees and a more
stringent application of the rules of play.
Some tournaments may be played at weekends
(usually Sunday).
On a lighter note we also play the
occasional ‘fun’ competitions with other
clubs.
